it takes two, samples & sampled by professor eddy
i was fooling around with samples and sampled songs and this one came about. the funny thing about the evasions track is that they quote quite a few songs, like ‘ring my bell’, ‘funkin’ for jamaica’ and ‘one nation under one groove’, but thirteen years later they were quoted themselves in ‘regulate’ by warren g (‘… funk, life is rhythm and rhythm is life’). ‘pump up the volume’ by m/a/r/r/s has so many samples, so i picked out a few, like ‘the jam’, ‘it’s just begun’ and ‘holy ghost’ by bar-kays. the bar-kays were sampled by fila brazilia as well (in a very subtle way)
locksmith – far beyond (1980)
basement jaxx – red alert (1999)
the evasions – wikka wrap (1981)
tom browne – funkin’ for jamaica (1980)
marrs – pump up the volume (1987)
jimmy castor bunch – it’s just begun (1972)
graham central station – the jam (1975)
lyn collins – think (about it) (1972)
rob base & dj e-z rock – it takes two (1988)
bar-kays – holy ghost [eddy’s edit] (1978)
fila brazillia – mother nature’s spies (2002)
herbie hancock – watermelon man (1973)
george michael – spinning the wheel (1996)
digable planets – escapism (gettin’ free) (1994)
naugty by nature – written on ya kitten [instrumental sex mix] (2010)
roxanne shanté – feelin’ kinda horny (1989)
the isley brothers – between the sheets (1983)
aaliyah – extra smooth (2001)
fred wesley & the jb’s – blow your head (1974)
jay dee – strange funky games and things (1974)
destiny’s child – no, no, no [part 2] (1997)
amy winehouse – tears dry on their own (2006)

i hope you’ll enjoy!
