Hi everyone Firstly thanks to all who attended at the Fro-Disia night in Chester. It was a great night and the feedback about the music was tremendous. I can say without reservation that Colin Curtis, Mark Grice, Baz Maleady and I thoroughly enjoyed the evening playing some of the best nu jazz, latin, dance jazz and funk. Frankly it would be had to hear this music anywhere else in the North West UK. For us to have a venue and an opportunity to play this music to a discerning crowd of people is something we have been aiming for for a long time and it can only get better. We are all committed to future events and new dates are being planned, we will let you know. Thanks again. In the meantime hear are some cool tunes for your delicate ears and feet. 1 Van Mondo - `Test Me`. off a house compilation called House Jazz Masters. not deep house this, more borderline but with a cool jazz vibe, great to start off with. 2 Ed Royal & DJ Enne - `Fuzzy Senor Samba`. Austrian funk guys hit the spot again from their 2006 album `The Groove Collage` 3 Idea 6 - `Metrolopoli` (DR Zoil Remix) first of two tracks from this great album `Idea 6 Remixed`. A rolling jazz vibe with some nice horns. 4 DJ Fede - `Congalerge`. From a new compilatin CD from DJ Fede of his tracks played on his Cosmic Sounds Radio Show`. This is the only track of his remix work and he has took Horace Parlan`s original cool Latin track Congalerge and beefed it up a bit in a Schema style. 5 Caj Tjader - `Mambo Mindoro` (Hex Hector Remix). right anyone will tell you I am an `Anorak` about the late great CalTjader, who in my opinion is a music hero and any chance at all to play one of his tunes will do me. Some purest may shudder at this housey`remix (is there such a term as` housey`) but other than the beat it`s all the original Mambo Mindoro work. 6 Russ Gabriel - `Jelba`. Not a new tune but from 2000. It has a long 2-3 min intro which I have missed off, lifes to short for long intro`s. Great Nu Latin tunes with some excellent drum work at the end. 7 Jazztronik - `Dentro Di Alama`. Big fan of Japan`s Jazztronik and all his stuff, ( the music is all one guy). This is from his 2005 album `Cannabal Rock`. 8 Club De Belugas - `Wildcats Gotta Move`. (D Bidy Dop Funky Remix). Came out in 2006 with many remixes. Currently their album Swop is doing very well. This version has some great vocals from Brenda Boykin. 9 DJ Day - `What Planet What Station`. from last years album` The Day Before`. is it funk, is it soulful, is it jazz, is it hip hop, who cares, great tune. 10 Middlewood Sessions - Red Waters. into the heavier side of things with the first of two tunes from Middlewood. This is a great piece of brand new up tempo jazz. 11 Aaron Jerome - `Time To Rearrange` Great tune form the album of the same name 2008. 12 Middlewood Sessions - `Astro Blue`,just a cool piece of jazz 13 Idea 6 - `Tune Up` (Quasimode Remix). Fro-Disia are big fans of all things Quasimode and this remix just adds to that praise. Italian artists being remixed by Japanese artists and a tune sung in English, what more do you want. Jazz is international indeed. 14 Jazzinho - `Da Tempo Ao Tempo` (Nicola Conte Rework). Schema remix by the man himself of this great Brazilian singer. 15 Mat Marucci - `We Do Voo Doo`. Just a wonderful piece of jazz to finish. Enjoy Teecee
