Hi Everyone

Few things to say before we get onto the tracks this month, and there are some seriously funky jazz tracks on this May mix if I do say so myself. I`m biased cus` I did it, but, I really enjoyed putting it together.

As I used to say when I started doing these things over 18 months ago 'if your into smooth jazz your in the wrong place mate', not that it`s that heavy but you know what I mean. Just a reminder it`s not about fancy beat match mixing just the tunes.Big sorry for the lack of info and the group email last month, I was a bit busy and knackered most of the time. I know these people who expect me to do things for them for about 40 hrs a week (usually more), and so on and they are persistent little buggers.

Big thanks to my friend Glen for doing the last mix, I hope you enjoyed it. If you don`t know Glen is quite in demand up and down the UK club scene as a Conga/Percussionist Player and he has a passion for the type of music we like at Fro-Disia. Cheers Glen

Now you know we ain`t the most progressive at sorting out `Fro` nights etc but we have been looking about for a suitable venue that would give us a bit more dance floor room and so on. We (me and Baz), have been busy drinking beer in Manchester City Center (that Manchester UK for all you in the US) looking for a suitable venue, so drinking totally on your behalf......it`s a hard life but someone`s gotta do it. Now we ain`t sorted out it yet but I can promise Baz & I will keep on drinking as much fine ale as we can with obviously the best possible motive.( LOL) By the way I`ll have a pint of Bitter in case you may need to know for the future. Baz isn`t bothered so just buy me another. No honest it will happen but only when we are satisfied it is a cool place, this is jazz don`t forget.

Snowboy and Bruce Q are Dj`n along with Colin Curtis at the next Hilton Soul Weekender in Birmingham (UK) so expect some really cool jazzy vibes from them. They are all on together for the Saturday night so that will be Awesome for jazz heads. Guess where I will be ......dancin me bloody head off knowing me.

Right tracks etcthis month is a full of new and old and i hope you like it.

1 Audio Lotion - `Agente Latino` (Miyamoto Musashi remix). Audio Lotion produce some tunes that are a bit smoothy electronic for me but this chap Musashi has taken a nice tune and really brought it on, nice to start off with. German release remixed in 2006.

2 Random Heroes - `C`Mon And Get It`. (Soul Harmonics remix). Now bit of a problem for me this one. It is good...... very good in fact...jazzy......nice vocals.......nice house overtones, however the problem is I`ve just found out they are from Yorkshire. Yes Yorkshire England.....anywhere else and it would be OK but for a fine upstanding son of Lancashire (God was born here if you didn`t know) It`s hard to admit something from Yorkshire is good. Other than the M62 motorway out of that place and a certain pudding, So .....with a heavy heart I have to say ,it`s OK really....OK......... at a push it`s bloody good. Moving on...

3 Malena - `More-Afro` Tipped off to this CD, and others, by my friend Fabio in Italy. How does it happen that I get told of an album produce in London and talked up by an Italian guy.!! Cheers Fab. From the brand new Freestyle label album `Fried Samba`. Cool album and this is not the only track of this thing.

4 UF0 (United Future Organization- to give them their full title), - `Loud Minority` (Club Mix). Japan`s masters of Nu Jazz for many years. Wonderful sense of future jazz vibes taking the new and old and creating a stunning track. Got this from the `Rebirth of Cool ` CD 1993. How ahead was that.

5 Luis Ferra -`Jurubeba` one of the first tracks from Schema records classic series of compilation ablums 'Break`n`Bossa' this time volume 8. Just released and an absolute must have. Wonderful Nu Jazz done in that Schema way.

6 Brownout - `Chafa Khan`. Freestyle records again from 2007. Great album from them and thanks to Mr Gibson who keeps putting these artist out. Real cool funky bass led groove track. Love the horns.

7 Ray Camacho - `Movin` On` rediscovered by a certain Mr Peterson Digs America Vol 2. Excellent Latin version of the old Brass Construction classic.

8 Ed Royal - `Daddy Cool` (Basement Freaks remix), Big fan of Ed Royal and another funky groove from him. From the album `Fantasy` 2007 Innvision Records

9 Dom Um Romao - Cosinha 2 (should be a Roman numeral 2 but cant find that !!) Yam Who remix. One of the great Brazillian artists Nu Jazzed up.This tune has been remixed 3 times to my knowledge. This is the latest so far. This version was from the Sound Affects Brazil CD 2007, Mr Bongo records.

10 Dizzy Gillespie - `Manteca` (Funky Lowlives remix), Another giant jazz artist and a classic tune. From `Verve Remixed vol 2` 2003. A respectful remix creating a bit of dance floor heaven.

11 Erlon Chaves - `Cosa Nostra` (Raw Deal remix), personal fave here, love the Chaves original from 1973 then found this version tucked away in the world music section of a local record shop. Release in 2002. Fantastic version. If my house was on fire I`d still look to grab this on the way out.

12 Fragment Orchestra - `Carioca` The second track from Schema`a Break`n`Bossa 8. Just buy it.

13 Jazzaffair Collective - `Funkaffair` (Fabio Genitos mix) I you think you have heard this rhythm thing before thats because it is another reincarnation of the 70s dancefloor classic MSFB`s `Love Is The Message`. One of the most sampled/copied tracks of recent years and why not. This time a heavy African funk version.

14 Little Louie Vega - `Elements Of Life` (Qunitero Beats), Masters at Work Vega`s beat sample of the great Elements track. Versions and copies available everywhere.

15 Asayake Production - `Oh Yes`. Cool laid back jazzy tune. 2007.16 Club De Belugas - `Frankie` great little mid tempo vocal track to finish from their album `Swop`.

Thats it, all comments welcome.

Best
